Sambraid beach
Like a treasure hunter who is always on an expedition to unearth the hidden pots of precious jewels and other antique items, I am always on the hunt of exploring unseen places, i.e. not the common tourists spots. Sometimes I hit a jackpot, while other times I am just glad that I could spend the time with my loved ones. During one such exploration trip of mine, the place that I had originally planned to go turned out to be a dud. The map just took me within the city rather than taking me to the destination which I intended to visit. It turns out that there never existed a place like I had checked online, so the map was right for a change this time. So instead of cribbing and wasting my time, I decided to check the next best nearest destination that showed on the map. And voila, this place turned out to be a lottery won unexpectedly.
Following the map, we reached a road which very much seemed deserted expect for few cars which went by. Lengthy white colored compound walls covered either side of the road, which were shattered here and there. These walls seemed to be protecting the date trees (owned by the localites I presume). The visible part of the farm looked like the aftermath of a tsunami, as we drove by it. After maneuvering few turns, we finally reached a spot where we could see huge bungalows. Once past them, we were about to take a wrong road, when I just happened to notice an entrance where cars were parked, and so we decided to drive in. To our luck, it was just the right place the map was showing - the Sambraid beach.
Happily, we got out with our camera ready to shoot. The little park by the beach was full of trees. The view of the beach was so soothing and peaceful, unlike the other tourist beaches. There was hardly any crowd here. There were lots of benches with umbrella type roofs standing strong on the sands of the beach. We chose our spot, decided to keep our bags, slippers down, and walked towards the calm waters.
From the shore, we could see huge rocky mountains covered by the white clouds literally few miles ahead of us, which I am sure would be on the left side. Apart from this, we could also see a mosque on the edge of a a rocky plateau on the left, and few fishing boats along the town that lined the coast on the right. The water was so blue, it had a soothing effect on the eyes and mind. The breeze was blowing all the dried leaves uplifting it gently from the sand and floating it on water.
The waves made a soft and low roar as it touched the sands on the shore. It took with it the tiny pebbles and small crabs that were running around. There were lot of oceanic treasures such as live shells, corals, crabs, colorful stones, pebbles, shells etc. on the wet sands brought in by the waves that lashed up against the shores.
The time at the beach was indeed a pleasant and relaxing one. One should definitely try to visit this beach tucked on the outskirts of a small town on the borders of Fujairah, which shares its borders with Oman. If you put on the map as Sambraid beach, Dibba, Al Fujairah, it will guide and take you to the right location.
